SIMBA Ludlow Ottoman Bed REVIEW

AD: This is an advertorial post.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a recent reel of one of the Costellos dancing around in a Simba Mattress cardboard box. This was an added bonus after we were asked if we would like to review a Simba Ludlow Ottoman Bed and a Simba Hybrid Mattress from Simba Sleep.

GIVEAWAY: We are offering one winner the opportunity to win a Simba Hybrid Duvet over at our sister site, Casa Costello. Enter the giveaway to win a SIMBA Hybrid Duvet now! (Closes 23rd August 2024 12.00pm MIDDAY)

We’ve had our bed since Mr C was 21! Over the years, we’ve talked about getting a new one but there always seemed other stuff to spend money on. We recently had an upgrade when Simba asked us to review their Hybrid Mattress, which made a huge difference to our sleep but Simba went one step further and sent us a whole new Ludlow Ottoman bed frame to review.

You will see from the pictures that we don’t have the largest bedroom in the world. It serves its purpose though but easily feels cluttered. What we really wanted was the extra storage that an Ottoman bed provides and it has been life changing! No more dragging dusty shoes out from under the bed and shoving bedding in a high cupboard that only giants can reach.

So a bit about the Ludlow Bed:

About the SIMBA Ludlow Ottoman Bed Frame

The Ludlow Bed comes with a choice of 6 neutral colours of Headboard. We went for the Plush Cloud Grey as the room is so small, we felt it would be overpowered by a heavier colour .We are also hoping to accessorise with brighter colours and curtains soon too.

There are 4 sizes of bed from Single, Double, King Size and Super King Size Ottoman Beds. The first thing we have noticed is how high the bed is. It’s really tall and feels luxurious when we get in it.

Ludlow Storage Options

We opted for the Ottoman Bed but you may prefer one of the other storage options available:

  • Two Drawer Storage – 2 x 51cm under drawers (Either side by side or one either side according to the size of bed you choose).
  • Four Drawer Storage – Not available in Single Bed Size.
  • No storage – If you are looking for simplicity and don’t have hundred of dusty shoes, then this could be the choice for you.
  • Ottoman Storage – Loads of storage space (up to 768 litres) accessed through a gas-lift mechanism.

Assembling the SIMBA Ludlow Ottoman Bed

Mr C did this in one evening. It would probably take me at least 3 days as I’m not as practical.

The instructions are simple, the bed is mainly pre-assembled and you have everything you need to assemble the bed. He dis say that you really need 2 people for the assembling the mechanical part that actually opens and closes the Ottoman section as this was tricky to hold everything on your own.

If you need to, SIMBA do offer a bed assembly service for a small fee.

How long should a good bed last for?

As with all SIMBA good, every Simba bed comes with a 200 day trial, FREE delivery and a 10 year guarantee.

How heavy is the Ottoman to lift?

It feels fairly heavy to lift at first but is easily doable and the gas-lift mechanism really helps. There are gaps in the frame to insert your hands to make lifting easier.

How to order a SIMBA bed frame

SIMBA Ludlow beds start at £669 for a single and go up to £949 for the King Size, making them the more reasonable end of bed prices. (Prices correct at the time of writing).

Finance payment options available.

Your bed is ordered online and you will be contacted by a third party delivery service. We had Rhenus Home Delivery who deliver across the UK and who contacted me via WhatsApp. You are asked to watch a short Youtube video about what to expect from delivery and then book an online slot of around 5 hours on the delivery day. Our delivery men were super friendly, prompt and efficient.

Is Simba Mattress packaging recyclable?

Yes! The plastic packaging is actually already 35% recycled but you can also recycle this afterwards.

The plastic wrap is classed as LDPE4 plastic so needs to go to a local drop off point (Most major supermarkets). You can find your nearest recycling centre at www.recyclenow.com.

Simba Customer Service

Will Simba take away my old bed?

Yes they will. It does not have to be the same size or even a Simba bed. We did not use this service so cannot comment on how efficient this service is. SIMBA recycle all old beds through a third party partner.
