I thought hard about whether to take a complete break of things to do in the North West this August. Holidays at the start of the month made it impossible to share. But quite honestly, there are so many events happening around the region towards the end of August, I wanted to share so nobody misses out.

We are heading out to see a sunflowers field this weekend – After a rocky start, weatherise, most sunflower fields are now open in the North West. If you fancy picking your own sunflowers and getting some fabulous pictures, you might like our Where to find sunflowers field displays in the North West – NEWLY UPDATED for 2024!

This weekend sees the 100th anniversary of the Southport Flower Show – the UK’s largest independent flower show. We are sad to be missing it this year but there was no way of fitting a visit in. We first visited Southport Flower Show, 22 years ago with a newborn daughter and I still remember the joy of seeing the huge displays of giant veg and fabulous dahlias. Southport Flower Show is on until Sunday 18th August.
