It feels very early to be talking about the festive season already but one of the most popular santa events really fills up quickly. The tradition of having Breakfast with Santa is a fairly new one in the UK, with the tradition coming over from the United States.
Who is Breakfast with Santa suitable for?
Most Breakfast with Santa Claus events do not have an age limit (either minimum or maximum) on them as if your child fully buys into the big man, it is great for any age.
Tips for getting the most out of Breakfast with Santa
- If your child is on the shy side or does not like the idea of meeting Father Christmas in a santa’s grotto, Breakfast with Santa can be the perfect santa visit without putting too much pressure on you or your child. (I have hideous memories of our middle daughter meeting Santa and quite frankly screaming her head off!) At least with Breakfast with Santa, we would have had the benefit of enjoying a Christmas breakfast and being able to distract her.
- Take a friend or cousin – Our most successful Santa visits were those when our girls had strength in numbers. There’s something about your older cousin being with you, that seemed to always encourage our girls to be that little bit braver. I’m not talking about sitting on Santa or an Elf’s knee (that’s just weird and thankfully seems to be a bit outdated these days), I’m just talking about actually being able to have a conversation with him and say thank you for the gift.
- Let the venue know in advance if you are several parties coming together so you can sit near each other.
- Take your Christmas lists with you. Ideal for if it is the start of the Christmas season and you are wanting to kick off the festive spirit with a magical morning.
- Have a backup gift or activity for afterwards. I’m going to be honest, sometimes the gifts you get from these types of events aren’t the best quality or even that suitable. Probably better to treat the gift as an extra early Christmas present and allow it to be opened on the day, rather than building it up to be something to be excited about opening on Christmas Day. We’ve had allsorts of presents from Meet Santa and Mrs Claus over the years and have been very glad that we didn’t build them up to be a main gift. We have even incorporated building (or baking) our own gingerbread house into the same day to ramp up the festive experience.

I have tried to include as many independent venues as possible, as I really do like to shop local at Christmas, but have also included restaurant chains as often these have more places and dates available. Whether you prefer something more intimate or party games with Santa’s merry elves, there are plenty of places that now offer Breakfast with Santa festive fun. Santa is a busy man! If you know of any restaurants offering a popular Breakfast with Santa event that are not listed here, then please do feel free to let me know and I will make sure they are added to the list. Sadly, it does not look like Breakfast with Santa for Ikea family members in Warrington is happening for 2023.
