PAJ GPS Tracker Review

AD: This is a collaborative post for review.

I will admit that when we were first approached to provide an honest review of the paj gps tracker, I wasn’t sure about how much use we would get out of it. I’m always a bit nervous of introducing new technology (it’s my age) but I have been pleasantly surprised.

What can the PAJ GPS Tracker be used for?

Our primary use for the PAJ Tracker is as a car tracker. Primarily used by owners of fleets of cars to keep track of where all their vehicles are in real time, we were only using it for personal use.We even found it useful on the very first time of using it  though. We headed to Liverpool to a football match at Anfield (the less said about that, the better, as Everton fans) and had to park in an unfamiliar area in a huge car park. By using our PAJ GPS tracker, we found our way back to the car, through the crowds so easily and were in the first set of cars allowed to leave the car park, beating the traffic. Brilliant!

In future, we will be putting the GPS car tracker in our eldest daughter’s car as she heads back to university. We love the peace of mind that this will give us as we will know where she (and the car) are. Our daughter does know about this – we aren’t tracking her without permission. She is also really keen to use the car tracker when she is parked in the university car park in Bristol. We particularly like the added security that she can share her location with the police if an emergency arises.

The benefits of a GPS tracking device are to keep track of your vehicle much quicker if they are stolen. The tracker can also track routes taken within the past 365 days and establish if there are any patterns if the car theft is not spotted immediately.

Does the PAJ tracker work on mobile phone or desktop?

The paj finder can be used on both a mobile paj app and on desktop through the online portal on the PAJ website.

How to set up the PAJ GPS Tracker

This was the real reason that I was slightly apprehensive about trying out the PAJ GPS Tracker. Sometimes these types of technology can be rather complicated to set up but this was so simple and clear. It was very obvious that we had set it up correctly and the tracker was working.

The first 4 steps tp setting up the paj gps tracker on the mobile app
  1. The default language on the mobile app will be German but it is very easy to change this.
  2. You can change the language to many European languages.
  3. The instructions for opening the portal to start using the tracker are very easy and clear. The website will take you through the various steps to setting up your account.
  4. There are clear pictures to show you what to expect when your account is up and running.

5. Work your way through the menu to make sure you fill in all the important parts so your tracker works best.

6. We decided to do some stages on the desktop which were just as easy as the mobile site – see below.

7. The mobile site is really clear and simple to use.

8. You can see how many devices are registered to your account.

9. You have to tell the account which is your home address (or the address that you want to use most often if you are using the tracker for work vehicles).

10. There is an option to subscribe to the newsletter to keep up to date with updates. WHen you sign up for the newsletter , you will get a 5% voucher code to use off your next tracker device.

11. The PAJ software is really secure and will keep checking that everything is correct.

12. Downloading the mobile app once your account is set up and confirmed.

13. We moved to setting up on the desktop to check how easy this was – super easy and quick! The whole thing took less than the 20 minutes it says on the phone clock (we got interrupted a LOT by the kids!)

14. The guided tour took seconds but was useful to see all the added functions of the portal.

15. Of course we had to change our profile picture to the cat.

16. You can keep your profile picture to the standard car logo if you wish.

17. You can choose which alarms/ push notifications to have active on the portal – we chose to use the Low Battery signal but turned the others off.

18. The guided tour is also available on the mobile app.

19. Your account is easy to access if any of your details change.

20. What the actual tracker looks like.

21. What your mobile app will show you when you have done your journey.

22. You get interesting information about your driving – Mr C was driving on this occasion.

23. Bet you checked if he was driving within the speed limit?

24. You are ready to go!

How often does a PAJ GPS tracker need to be charged?

For the first use, you are advised to leave charging (you are provided with a charging cable) for up to 8 hours. We did this before set up.

Once at full charge, the unit should have up to 90 days of battery life in standby mode.

When in use, the battery level does not last as long – At the time of writing, our current battery has been in use for 8 days and the battery indicator is still at 57%.

What is the difference between a GPS and a tracker?

Traditional GPS devices are used to find an exact location of addresses/locations and provide directions to get there. A GPS device concentrates more on finding an actual object (car or person) within an average of 16 feet accuracy of its current location.

Where does the tracker go in the car?

The most obvious place is in the glove box but you can put it anywhere like the boot, under the seats, in the side of the door.

Is the PAJ GPS Tracker Waterproof?

This depends on the model so you are best to check on the website first. I was wondering this is case people wanted to use it for tracking their paddleboards.

What if I have technical difficulties with the GPS tracker?

There is a dedicated helpline that is available Monday – Friday. Details on the PAJ website.

Do I need good internet access to use GPS tracker devices?

This portal works best using 4 g network coverage.

What does the PAJ GPS Subscription offer?

With each FINDER portal, there is a subscription fee. This starts at £4.34 per month but gets cheaper if you sign up for a longer period.

How do I cancel my PAJ GPS Subscription?

Go into your account and click Portal Licence, then click cancel. If you are paying monthly, you have until the end of that month to cancel. There is also a 30 day colling off period if once you purchase the tracker, you discover its not for you and want to cancel the subscription.

Where to buy the PAJ GPS Tracker from?

You can either buy the PAJ GPS Tracker from the PAJ Website or from Amazon. You can even buy repurposed trackers from the website.

The tracker costs £199.99 inc VAT
